Why not let go of criticism of others
Why not let go
of criticism of others
It’s easy to fall into the habit of criticizing others.
We notice what we think they should have done differently, where they seem to have gone wrong, or how they don’t quite “get it.” Yet from a spiritual perspective, criticism is one of the subtlest ways we separate ourselves from the flow of love.
When we criticize another, we close our heart just a little. Our focus shifts from compassion to judgment, from understanding to analysis. The mind, always eager to be right, leaps in with its opinions and verdicts — forgetting that every soul is doing the best it can with the level of awareness it has in that moment.
In truth, the qualities that irritate or disappoint us in others often mirror aspects of ourselves still seeking healing. Life is a great teacher, and it uses our relationships as the classroom. When we catch ourselves criticizing, it’s a gentle nudge from Spirit saying, “Look within. There’s something here for you to understand, not condemn.”
Criticism also blocks energy flow. In the subtle body, judgment creates constriction — like tightening the hose through which love and healing energy should flow freely. By softening our judgments, we allow compassion and light to circulate once again, not only benefiting others but cleansing our own field.
Letting go of criticism doesn’t mean turning a blind eye or pretending everything is fine. It means choosing to see beyond surface behavior into the soul essence of the other person. It’s recognizing that their journey, like ours, is unfolding perfectly — sometimes messily, often mysteriously, but always with purpose.
When we release criticism, we reclaim our peace. We stop wasting energy trying to fix or correct others and instead focus on our own vibration.
From that place, love naturally radiates outward. And love — not criticism — is what transforms.
So next time you feel tempted to judge, pause and breathe. Ask yourself, “What would love see here?” That simple shift in perception is the beginning of freedom — for you and for everyone around you.
 Try it and see!
