How do I develop my Intuition?
How do I develop
my Intuition?
Intuition is often described as an inner sense of knowing—an awareness that arises without conscious analysis or reasoning. From a spiritual perspective, developing intuition is about creating a deeper connection with ourselves and becoming more attentive to the subtle insights that can help guide our choices and personal growth.
One of the most effective ways to strengthen intuition is through stillness. In everyday life, our attention is frequently occupied by responsibilities, information, and external influences. Setting aside regular periods for meditation, mindful breathing, quiet reflection, or time in nature can create the mental space needed to recognize our inner responses more clearly.
Becoming aware of the body can also be valuable. At times, intuitive responses may present themselves as a sense of ease, hesitation, clarity, or discomfort. Rather than immediately interpreting these feelings, simply notice them. With practice, we can become more familiar with our individual patterns and better understand what our inner awareness may be communicating.
Journaling is another useful practice. Recording thoughts, feelings, dreams, or impressions can help us recognize recurring themes and develop greater confidence in our perceptions. Looking back over previous entries may also reveal occasions when an initial instinct proved meaningful.
Spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer, contemplation, or energy-based therapies may further support this process by encouraging greater presence and self-awareness. The aim is not to seek dramatic experiences, but to cultivate a quieter and more receptive relationship with ourselves.
Importantly, intuition works best alongside discernment. Emotions, expectations, and previous experiences can influence how we interpret situations. Taking time to reflect and considering practical information alongside intuitive feelings can provide a more balanced perspective.
Ultimately, developing intuition is a gradual process. Through stillness, awareness, reflection, and trust, we can strengthen our connection with our inner wisdom and allow it to become a supportive part of our spiritual and everyday lives.
It was our intuition which guided my wife Kim and myself to America to continue the healing work we had been doing in England for some 18 years.
A client, who was English, had lived in Ojai, California for some years but returned to the U.K with a brain tumor so we gave him healing over many weeks. His tumor went into remission, but he kept encouraging us to “take your work to America – to Ojai – as it is desperately need in the U.S.”
After flying out and staying in Ojai for a few days, we meditated on what we should do.
A loud voice said “Move”, we felt intuitively it was the right thing to do – and here we are!
